I have always loved looking at different aspects of photography. The modeling, the color schemes, costume and makeup, hair – interesting (but not my cup of tea for doing), but more specifically the scene creations, seemed so interesting I recently decided to try my hand at the art.

November of 2020 it was time to jump in with a new (reasonable) camera. Picked up a Kodiak PixPro AZ528 with a Aspheric HD Zoom Lens from the local Walmart. As far as I can tell a pretty middle range piece of equipment, some focus features, flash, digital features, some built in photo modes and fun filters. It is fair step up from the run of the mill point, maybe zoom, and click type of camera I have had in the past. Taking a few pointers from photographer friends and the encouragement to practice, practice practice, it was time.

As the dear ol’ Bilbo Baggins once said …. ‘I am going on an adventure!’ You are welcome to join me (and send suggestions for new shoots or pointers for better pictures) on this adventure.

All the images featured here have minimal editing and were from the first day with the camera. Yes, some are fuzzy, I had no idea what I was doing after all.

After a few months of just ‘playing around’ with the camera, a focus of whimsical and fanciful scenes seem to hold the most interest for me. So no common family or senior pictures from me – while I respect that style of photography… it’s just not interesting for me to shoot. I will have nature scenes and probably a fair number of cat pictures set aside, as they tend to me my ‘on hand’ models when playing with different settings. However my main focus will be for a Fanciful Storybook like collection of images.
